Don’t pay for leads that fail the screen

A person who misses your criteria should never reach intake and never reach the invoice. If they do, the screen is only a story.

The expensive leads are not only the ones that never answer. They are the ones that should never have been sent: wrong state, already represented, not a case type you take. If those still show up on the invoice, the screen is a story you were told, not a rule anyone is holding.

A fail is a lead you never see

Screening only saves money if a person who misses your criteria is not delivered and not billed. You should not have to reject them one by one and then argue the credit. The rejection happens before your intake team’s time is spent.

That requires the criteria to be specific enough to fail. “Good injury cases” cannot fail anyone. “Treatment has started, no current attorney, incident in these counties, within the time window you set” can.

Watch what gets through

You will not see the people who were screened out. You will see the ones who passed. In the first weeks, mark every delivered lead that misses a written criterion. If that number is more than a rare miss, the screen and the record are out of sync. Say so while the campaign is still small.

A separate issue is a lead that met the criteria and still is not a case you want. That is your attorneys’ judgment. It is not a failed screen, and it should not be billed as one either way: you received what you asked for.

Ask how fails are counted

Before you start, ask two questions. What happens to a person who misses one required answer? And is that person ever sold to another firm with looser rules? The first answer should be: they are not sent to you and not billed. The second answer matters if you were promised exclusivity. A fail that is quietly offered elsewhere is a different product than the one you think you bought.

Put it next to the replacement policy

Some bad records will still arrive. Wrong numbers, a criterion the screen missed, a person who says they never inquired. Those belong in the replacement rules you write before launch: what counts, how long you have to flag it, and whether the remedy is a replacement or a credit. The screen stops the obvious fails. The policy handles the ones that slip through.

Hold the campaign to the page you signed

Case Leads Pro does not send, and does not bill, personal injury or workers’ compensation leads that fail the criteria you wrote. Phone numbers are SMS-verified before delivery. None of that promises a signed case. Book a 20-minute call and we will write the fails down before anything runs.
